(a) Blogs as current phenomenon & benefits of blogging to the community

Blogging has been the hobby of people of all ages, regardless young or old. Breslin (cited in Kruk & Daniel 2008) added that bloggers would normally touch on a number of topic interest. In other words, bloggers would post issues varying from self interest to commenting on a political matter.

In addition, there is an average of 120,000 blogs created daily and nearly 1.5 million blog posts are created according to Breslin. More often than not, when we use search engines like Google, the results lists would display a variety of blog addresses pertaining to our research topic. However, Breslin also noted that when searching for information, it is not as easy as a few clicks away, as spam blogs gets in the way.

One may ask what are the benefits og bloggins to the community? Blogging is a two way communication, where 12 per cent of Internet users have posted commentarie or responses on blog, according to Flyn (2006).

Blogs are receiving more focus than ever, as it serves as an alternative media to readers all over the nation. In the case of recent political condition in Malaysia, blogs have been used by oppostion parties to disseminate their views during the 12th General Election held on March 8, 2008, according to Al Jazeera (2008).

Apart from that, blogs also allows individuals to benefit from freedom of expression, in which they can express their beliefs and share persoanl stories to be connected to one another.
