(c) Designing for print versus designing for online
Designs come in a variety of colors, texts and information. According to (Kress & va Leeuwan 1999), information value, salience and framing are three interrelated systems, when combined it presents a more meaningful composition.
When designing for print and online, document designers must take into consideration the aspect of meaning of images. Images are better accompanied by verbal text, according to (Kress & van Leeuwan 1999). Information value refer to the postion of elements, where else salience is a component made to attract the audience;s attention, and framing signifies whether the object belongs together or do not.

According to (Hudec & Stracenski 2004), when designing for online 'content is the king'. In other words, the information on the site must be presented in categories for viewer's pleasure. For example, if the site offers services or merchandises,it must then include list of descriptions, specifications, and method of purchasing. The subject matter's text should be clear and concise. In addition, according to Robbins (2006), it is common to create a 'printer freindly' version of each page on the site.
Example of weblogs that offers services:
- Clothes Bucket
-Resale Shops
As for print designs, Kress & van Leeuwan (cited in Walsh 2006) stated that when an audeiance reads a written text from a print design, their responses are usaully influenced by codes such as colors, framing, line angle, perspective and vectors. The difference between print and online designs when reading an image, readers would need to 'break the visual codes'. In other words, we as consumers must identify the image by differentiating the color, position and the angle to create meanings.
